The 2023 Season Minimize

The Bridgton Community Band is looking forward to resuming its summer appearances in 2023 with it's first concert of the season on July 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at the Bridgton Bandstand prior to the Town of Bridgton fireworks. Regular Wednesday evening concerts will be offered each week at 7 p.m. at either the Bridgton Bandstand. Our final summer concert will be held on August 16th.

For our concerts, we will do a variety of music from more serious concert works, Broadway selections, lighter selections, movie music, marches and more. We try to introduce a lot of new music every year and bring back the best of previous programs.

The BCB has been adding more members every year and has many fine players. We strive to make the music not only enjoyable but at the highest level possible. We welcome players of every level and invite everyone to join us for one week or more or the entire season if your schedule allows. Help us to have a great group this summer! Make sure to invite the musicians you know to join us this summer!

We rehearse each Monday evening beginning on May 1st at 7 p.m. at Stevens Brook Elementary School in Bridgton. Please contact Band President Dick Albert at dickalbert43@gmail.com for more information.

About the Band Minimize

Group Photo taken August 3, 2022

The Bridgton Community Band, celebrating its 85th Birthday in 2023, is one of the few remaining community bands in the State. For six or seven weeks during the summer, volunteer musicians principally from the Bridgton area, but others from various parts of the country, present a lively, FREE concert to locals and visitors alike. The members, dressed in their new red Polo shirt uniforms, play a wide variety of music from rousing marches to classical pieces. The Band has had only seven directors; Dick Albert held office the longest for twenty-eight years and Natasha Proctor for eighteen years.

At the end of the 2017 season, Steven Sweetsir (who plays French horn with us) was selected to fill the conductor's position for 2018 and beyond. Steven's bio information is found here.

Many people from the local area faithfully attend each week, while visitors to our area are excited to experience this unique activity. Audiences can range from children to seniors and number up to 150 or more.

At the last concert of each season, we celebrate the Band's Birthday with cake for the band members and audience. Here's the one from the 2022 season, our 84th:
